Yesterday I switched on my XBox 360 and got the dreaded Red Ring of Death again. Thankfully Microsoft acknowledge this issue and have given all 360 Consoles a 3 year warranty against this known problem. So off it goes to Havant to be repaired.
I have created a pair of scripts that log when a user logs on and off to workstaions on a domain.

Finally after updating Microsft ISA 2004 to SP3 and giving all the nice new logging features they have decided to release an update for ISA 2006 to give the same functionality. The update is caled Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2006 Supportability Update package and can be found at the following url, Internet Security and Acceleration (ISA) Server 2006 Supportability Update package.
Well my car has now got a nice performance upgrade, instead of the stock 225 bhp and 320 Nm of torque it is now pushing out 270 bhp and 447 Nm, as can be seen but the graph on the left. For people who prefer torque in lb-ft instead of Nm this equates to 330 lb-ft. The only downside is my fuel consumption is awful when I put my foot down. Oh well can’t have it all.
I have recently implemented a RSA SecurID infrastructure to provide secure two-factor authentication over both local login to servers and workstations and also EAP VPN authentication. This was initially using SID700 tokens and worked brilliantly. Since then we have purchased a number of SID800 tokens which have USB connectors built-in to automatically passthrough the code on the display.
Unfortunatly I have been unable to get them to fully integrate with the logon GINA and still allow full VPN EAP support, until now!

Recently I have been configuring a Linksys WAG200G router to allow VPN access inbound. Everytime it attempted to make a connection it would return Error 721. After a chat with Linksys Tech Support they sent me through some updated firmware that is not available on their website. So if you encounter inbound VPN issues with a Linksys router contact them and request updated firmware, the version I now have is 1.01.05(1), and it works!
The next issue I have encountered is Windows XP’s requirement for an IDE floppy disk drive during the text mode install stage. As the laptop has a SATA controller Windows XP does not have the driver support built in, normally you would just download the drivers and during the text mode install press F6 to add additional drivers, not a chance! Without getting too descriptive about the problem the easiest solution was to build a new Windows XP installation CD with the drivers integrated into the CD. The easiest way to achieve this is to use nLite.
nLite is a tool for permanent Windows components removal and pre-installation Windows configuration. After removal there is an option to make bootable image ready for burning on cd or testing in virtual machines.
With nLite you will be able to have Windows installation which on install does not include, or even contain on cd, the unwanted components.

Well my new work laptop has arrived but being able to use it with our standard corporate build does not appear so straightforward. Firstly the workstation management software we use, Novell Zenworks, does not support the hardware ‘out-of-the-box’ so after a short while I found the following solution:
Quick update, damn this game is good. In the whole the online community is fantastic with only a very small number of what you would call bad sports, regardless of the stuff kicking around about ‘Brits Vs Americans’. Got round to completing all of the Arcade achievements today, only need to complete Nürburgring Time Trial!
In May Microsoft released Service Pack 3 for Microsoft ISA Server 2004, when I attempted to install this update it would bring the firewall down and the service could not be restated. It would result in leaving mixed components on the ISA Server, causing the service startup to fail. I have now managed to apply this service pack without issue. Below is the method that I used:
If this still fails, re-apply SP2 to get get the ISA service operational again.
